Medical Abortion (Abortion Pill) Services: ONLY $390!
Offering the Highest Quality Care in Chicago!
At All Women’s Medical Center, we are experts in the use of RU-486 and believe that every woman has the right to receive safe reproductive healthcare, including access to medical abortions/abortion pills in our Chicago clinic. A medical abortion is a non-surgical abortion procedure that can be done here for pregnant women up to 10 weeks only. Seeking an abortion, whatever the reason, is a personal decision, and many women prefer having a non-invasive, discreet option available to them. Patients may choose this option as soon as they discover they’re pregnant up to 10 weeks after their last period began. Medical abortions/abortion pills don’t present any risks for future pregnancies and typically see a high success rate among patients.
How a Medical Abortion Works for Our Patients
During your initial appointment, we’ll review your medical history and provide more details about how the procedure works. A vaginal ultrasound and pelvic exam will be done to determine how far along in your pregnancy you are before administering abortion pills to you. Two medications are used in a medical abortion, one of which you’ll be given here and the second of which you’ll take orally at home. The first medication taken here is Mifepristone (Mifeprex or RU-486), which is a medication that blocks the pregnancy hormone progesterone. The second medication is Misoprostol (Cytotec), which is a medication that makes the uterus expel the pregnancy tissue. We may also prescribe a pain medication, as severe cramps and vaginal blood clots are typical after taking abortion pills.
Who’s Eligible for a Medical Abortion/Abortion Pill?
While medical abortions/abortion pills provide a safe, non-invasive option for many of our patients at All Women’s Medical Center, they aren’t recommended for every patient seeking a pregnancy termination. You should NOT seek a medical abortion if any of the following apply:
- You’re more than 10 weeks along in your pregnancy
- You have an intrauterine device (IUD – it must be removed before treatment)
- You have a history of heart disease, stroke, or anemia
- You take blood-thinning medications, or you suffer from a bleeding disorder
- You have severe intestinal issues
- You suspect you have an ectopic pregnancy (a pregnancy not in your uterus)
From Your Initial Consult to Your Follow-Up Care, We’re Here
Patients who receive a medical abortion/abortion pill at our Chicagoland clinic must schedule a follow-up appointment a couple of weeks afterward so that we may run a few tests to ensure its success. If the procedure was not successful, we might need to perform a surgical abortion to terminate your pregnancy. Your follow-up appointment is also a convenient time to speak with our knowledgeable staff about birth control and other contraception control methods if you wish to avoid future pregnancies. Please feel free to contact All Women’s Medical Center with any questions or concerns or to schedule an appointment.
